  Damien Coquelet
  Morgon

We suppose having Georges Descombes as your dad can’t hurt if you want to make great Beaujolais and it was our luck that we encountered Damien’s wines whilst visiting his father. Although only 21 (!) he already has 15 years in the vineyards, so we think he probably bleeds Gamay. He is seen as the future of Morgon, so much so that the ex-Mayor of Morgon gave him his best vineyard when he retired from winemaking. Alright for some...
The vineyards are farmed with biodynamic principles and no sulphur is used at any time in the process. As a result, Damien’s wines have the aromas of crushed rock, flowers and offer a pure expression of the variety. The sweet fruit is even keeled, elegant and deftly structured despite a medium-weight style. Chill or not and then... well, chill some more.
