The Domaine des Escaravailles takes its name from the Occitan "Escaravay" which means beetle. This nickname was given by the villagers to the deeply religious farm owners in the 17th century because they wore long black cloaks. Gilles Ferran took the property over in 1999 after working for a decade alongside his father Daniel, with a modern vision of winemaking and a firm commitment to raise the name of his estate to the highest level. The soils are mainly clay and limestone. The use of chemicals is reduced to an absolute minimum.
