| In 1998, Fabio Chiarelotto, a Swiss-Italian historian purchased this well known estate, beguiled by the potential but also with a mind to do things his own way. Montepeloso rests on a gentle hillside of chalky gravel and clay within the warm sub-region of Suvereto. This unique site naturally limits yields and is capable of producing wines with great concentration and aroma, together with Tuscan elegance and a Mediterranean twist. With great investement in the vineyards, Fabiore planted or retrained many of the vines and is now producing some of the best ‘New Wave’ Tuscan wines available, with tiny yields and small production. The blends are led by Sangiovese, but also include Montepulciano, Alicante Bouschet, Cabernet Sauvignon and Marselan. |
