Paisajes y Viñedos (Landscapes and Vineyards) is a joint project between Miguel Angel de Gregoria of Finca Allende and Quim Villa, owner of Villa Vineteca one of Spains top wine merchants. The idea is to source the best fruit from single vineyard sites selected for their quality of terroir and age of vines. The vineyards are overseen by Allende and the grapes are then purchased at above market prices ensuring the best possible raw material. Vinification, bottling and ageing in new French oak (14 to 16 months) then takes place at Finca Allende. The result is that very pure, elegant and unique wines are produced.
The Rioja D.O. regulations forbids printing the town, the vineyard or origin of the grapes on the label. As a result each wine or vineyard is assigned a number and initial that correponds to the vineyard.
