Calendal is a joint project between highly rated consultant Philippe Cambie and Gilles Ferran, who studied together at the wine university in Montpellier. They shared their love of the terroir of the southern Rhone and their passion for old vine Grenache and Mourvedre.
They bought in 2006 a tiny vineyard of 1.5 ha located on the Plan de Dieu with healthy old vines. The wine is vinified at Domaine des Escaravailles in Roaix and organic methods of growing are utilized.
