Despite everything that has been written in the press, France still sets the benchmark against which other wines are judged. Whilst Appellation Controlee regulations can indeed be too restrictive, the classic French wine regions continue to reflect the country’s diverse geography and climate to produce high quality wines with a genuine sense of tradition.
Yet France is certainly not stuck in the past. Modern style wine making is influencing French wine as never before, and Southern France is home to some of the most dynamic and exciting wine regions of the world.
