Caracol da Areia | António Maçanita

Caracol is a traditional varietal on Porto Santo, thought to be related to Palomino Fino. “Fazendas da Areia” refers to specific plots of ancient sandy limestone, thought to be the best sites, which are used for this cuvee. The result is a characterful wine with ripe citrus, salinity and a gunflint edge to the nose. On the palate it’s bright and textured with refreshing acidity and a long, concentrated finish.
