Damned Mountain, a lose translation of ‘Les Monts Damnés in homage to the great Sancerre, is a restrained style of Sauvignon Blanc that still maintains the regional character of Marlborough’s signature varietal. Made from grapes sourced from a sustainably farmed single vineyard in the Southern Valleys sub-region, an area which is cooler and drier. This climatic influence combines with the low fertility loess clay soils, to produce wines a little riper in style with good structure and minerality. Winemaking is mainly in stainless steel with a small amount barrel fermented in used French oak to add texture and a savoury note.
