The Evangelho Vineyard is one of the great old-vine Zinfandel vineyards left in California. Planted in 1890 (on its own roots), it is a field planting of Carignan, Mourvedre, Palomino, Muscat, Chasselas and probably some other varieties as of yet un-identified, which are harvested and co-fermented for this cuvee. The result is an exuberant red wine, marked by intense dark fruit and concentration, but also extraordinary aromatic lift, beguiling complexity and true drinkability. A uniquely Californian wine.
