Sopron, the former capital of Burgenland, is the spiritual home of Blaufränkisch. For Péter, making wine is also about reclaiming his region’s past. Originally people in Sopron worked small plots over generations and generations, and knew them intimately. Much of this knowledge was lost during Communism due to large-scale industrialized agriculture, but we’re fortunate that his wines offer us a glimpse into this past.
