Supernature is a new project from Ben and Anglea Jordaan, founder of the Noble Vice wine festival. The first wine is a vibrant skin contact Pinot Gris made by up-and-coming winemaker Natasha Williams. The grapes come from a vineyard in the Upper Hemel-en-Aarde Valley that Natasha has been working with for the past 5 years. The site is a south-facing slope at 200-250m above sea level, with decomposed granite soils. The handpicked fruit ferments on skins for approximately 10 days with two punch downs each day to encourage extraction, which gives this wine it’s striking salmon hue, gooseberry/citrus aromatics and gentle chalky texture. There will be more wines from this project soon, so watch this space!
