Weingut Seckinger sits firmly at the forefront of the progressive Pfalz, part of a new generation of growers re defining German wine through farming, not formula. Run by the three Seckinger brothers, Philipp, Jonas and Lukas, the estate works a patchwork of sites around the town of Niederkirchen.
The vineyards are certified biodynamic, farmed with a deep focus on soil life, biodiversity, and long term balance. No herbicides or systemic treatments are used, and the work in the vines is hands on and labour intensive, aiming to let each site speak clearly. Yields are modest, and harvests are guided by taste and texture rather than analytical targets.
In the cellar, the same philosophy applies. Fermentations are spontaneous, additives are avoided, and sulphur is used sparingly and only when necessary. Élevage is patient, often with extended lees contact. Every wine in their range ferments and matures in neutral, old oak, contributing structure and lift rather than flavour.
Riesling forms the backbone of the range, but other varieties like Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir and even a plot of Savagnin are treated with equal seriousness. The wines are savoury, tactile, and resolutely dry, favouring tension and minerality over fruit overt expression. These are contemporary German wines with depth and direction that are built for the table - gastronomic, confident and deeply rooted in place.
