Domaine Devevey

Founded in 1992 in the village of Demigny, on the seam between the Côte de Beaune and Côte Chalonnaise, Domaine Devevey is one of Burgundy’s quiet overachievers. Built gradually by Jean-Yves Devevey from a small family holding, the domaine today spans 7.5 hectares across Beaune, Volnay, Rully and the Hautes-Côtes de Beaune, producing wines of clarity and finesse shaped by thoughtful farming and a deeply artisanal approach.

The vineyards have been farmed organically since 2003, certified since 2014, and having been applying biodynamic principles since 2019. In the vineyards, the focus is on biodiversity, observation and healthy living soils - an approach that seeks to preserve the individuality of each parcel rather than impose a house style.

In the cellar, the wines are made with a similarly light touch. Long élevage on lees, low sulphur use and traditional Burgundian methods allow the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay to express themselves with precision and energy. The whites in particular have gained a reputation for their tension, mineral drive and quietly reductive style, often benefiting from time to unravel in the glass.

Today, as Jean-Yves approaches retirement, the domaine is in the midst of a long and thoughtful handover. He remains closely involved, ensuring continuity of vision and style, while Laurence leads the work in the vineyards and cellar with Nicolas overseeing the administrative side. Hand-picked by Jean-Yves and shaped by the same patient, quality-minded philosophy, the team carries the project forward without any change of direction. These are authentic Burgundies: vivid, terroir-driven wines that favour balance and texture over power, and which speak as much of the landscape as the people behind them.
