The grapes for Cruce del Collado come from a tiny 0.4ha vineyard in the village of El Real de San Vicente, situated at 800m altitude. This is the highest point in the Méntrida DO, and one of the highest in the wider Gredos region. David and Aitor discovered this parcel of vines, which had been abandoned for years and never reclaimed by other vignerons due to its extremely low yields. The resulting wine is quite remarkable, showing extraordinary freshness, tightly coiled red fruit, and incredible minerality that clearly signals its terroir.
