Colet is a family winery based in the Penedès region of Spain, a beautiful location surrounded by forests and olive trees south-west of Barcelona. Sergi’s family have been farmers for generations and have worked their vineyard since 1783. They used to be tenant farmers but 34 years ago Sergi’s father raised the money to buy their land. From then their mentality changed and they stopped farming for maximum volume. Sergi built experience working at Gramona, did a Masters in Champagne and worked at Pol Roger but came back to Colet in 1998. Sergi and his father decided to work like a French Chateau and just work with their own grapes. Their vineyards are cool at night and warm in the day with a north-western exposure, giving the wines a great freshness and fragrance. Sergi thinks wines should tell of a place. This is why Colet is part of DO Classic Penedès - this means they make wines from their own estate grapes, the vineyards must be 100% certified organic. Wines are made in the traditional method, they're 100% Reserva (i.e. minimum 15 months in bottle) and show vintage and disgorgement date on the labels.
