Paraje Tao | Jable de Tao

From the village of Tao, where vines aged between 100 and 150 years continue to thrive, this wine captures the essence of Lanzarote’s unique viticultural heritage. The plots lie in the north-central part of the island, overlooking Famara. As is typical of the region, the vines are planted directly into sandy (jable) soils or trenches, with the volcanic ash (rofe) exposed on the surface that sweeps across the landscape. This is a challenging environment for cultivating Malvasía, with high humidity and a constant threat of downy mildew requiring careful, year-round attention in the vineyard. The result is a wine shaped not only by its dramatic terroir but by the dedication and skill of local growers who have worked this extraordinary landscape for generations. A true tribute to Lanzarote’s artisanal winemaking tradition, and to the small, passionate producers who continue to preserve it.
