Fifth Season | Indigo Selection

Fifth Season is our first English wine collaboration with Rob Corbett from Castlewood in Devon. Castlewood Vineyard lies on the south facing slopes of Musbury Castle, overlooking the river Axe in east Devon. The rolling hillside allows cool air to fall to the valley bottom whilst a warm south westerly sea breeze helps the vines stay healthy. The wine brings together ripe, sun-kissed Bacchus, Reichensteiner and Pinot Noir, and gently ages them in amphorae and oak barrels. The 2022 vintage boasted a warm dry spring followed later by a gorgeous Indian summer, resulting in intense aromatic fruit. The grapes were macerated for 10 days in amphorae and fermented with wild yeast before pressing, then returned to clay for a further 12 months, or a ‘fifth season’ prior to bottling.
